I started playing tennis as a 7 year old, just hitting a ball against a wall with my dad’s racket that was way too big for me. I was already hooked on it. I got heavily into competition from an early age playing tournaments at county, regional and national level. Throughout my junior years I represented Warwickshire and the West Midlands and always qualified for the national junior championships at in every age group.

Tennis became a huge influence in my life taking me from King Edwards to boarding school in Sevenoaks, where I took my A levels and trained intensively, and then to America where I did a BA degree in psychology and played division 1 university tennis.

After university I channelled my passion for tennis into teaching. I have been teaching tennis for almost 20 years and have helped to develop players of all ages and abilities from those just starting out to those competing internationally. I love helping children and adults who are competitive and determined to keep improving in order to play better and win more.

I have been a coach at Streetly since 1983. I have plenty of experience and a real passion for the game. Tennis really is a sport for life, a game to love. Tennis gets under your skin and penetrates your heart.

I now offer coaching exclusively to adults during the day from Monday to Friday. I also operate a ladies tennis clinic on Thursday afternoons. I am really enthusiastic about helping people learn to play the game, improve and hopefully become lifelong participants.

If you are interested in coaching with Colin you can contact him on the number above or alternatively on 01543 321860 or colinjbailey@gmail.com.
